I’ve made quite a bit of progress on the board since my last update.

Work with the Sculptamold was completed, evening out the tiered layers, and adding shape and definition to the cave.  Most of the work was done using drywall tools, and a couple clay sculpting tools I have on hand.  Stairs from the Hirst Arts mold #71 were cast in dental plaster, painted with a wash,  and pressed into the Sculptamold, to indicate were mini’s should path.  I tested the angle of the stairs, using the Ghulam of the Suleman Family miniature  from Alkemy’s Khaliman Republic.

We’ve been building a tournament board for an Alkemy scenario I want to write, centered around a tribe of Aurlok’s defending their Manitou totem from invading forces.  I plan to use it in other games we play as well, but that is the inspiration.

Since it is currently curing in the heat of the garage, I figure I’d take some time make a progress report.  You can find part one and part two also on the blog.

After initially laying out the board to have a stepped effect, we decided that we should go with a more gradual slope instead.

What do you bring to the table as a PC?

Being new to the pen and paper scene, I still have a lot to learn.  I’ve read the core rulebooks, I’ve rolled my character, I have dice in hand.  I’m ready to play!

Or am I?

A lot of tools are available to DM’s and GM’s, along with a lot of pressure, to provide a fun and exciting gaming experience.  I follow along with their conversations through various blogs, and twitter all the time.  With so much time and effort on their part, already spent before a player even enters the scene, how should I prepare to make the most of it?
