I barely got a draw in my second game. It was a close fought game of me not losing, and at least I won that.  It was with high hopes that I would be able to do well on my next game.

The Spoils Tourney - Origins 2010

Continued from … #TheSpoilsTCG – Part One

So, there I was, playing a new game that I thought I’d be able to get a handle on. And I lose….big. Now, with the hand I was dealt, I don’t know if anyone really could of done much better than what I accomplished. In any case, the cards didn’t go the way that I wanted them to. Now, with the big loss and the tournament about to close admissions, I had to decide if I really wanted to take a chance to embarrass myself in playing the game in front of unknown others.  By playing a game that I had only heard about a few hours earlier.  However, the winner of the tournament got an Xbox 360 Arcade.  Not a bad prize to win.  Plus, those that didn’t win the grand prize had a shot to get The Spoils cards and promos.

The Spoils Hand

This past Saturday at #Origins2010, I was introduced to the TCG The Spoils.   I found it a refreshing new spin on card gaming.  I’ll be comparing The Spoils to Magic: The Gathering often, but that’s because it’s the card game that I’m most familiar with. But before I talk about that, I’ll give you a quick tour of my card gaming background.

I first started playing these type of games back in 1994 with MTG.  It was a new type of game for me and I was enthralled with it.  This lasted until ’95/’96. I just didn’t have time and/or money to keep my addiction going.

Another great day at #Origins2010

I had two great Art College Sessions today, with the artist from Wyvern’s Tale, on blending colors, and painting eyes on minatures.  She’s been a great person to talk to about the mini’s this weekend, and does absolutely gorgeous work.  I can’t wait to start putting her advice to work on my own projects, and hope to run into her again at GenCon later this summer!

I watched some demo’s being played with the Splintered Light minis, but unfortunately didn’t get a chance to sit in personally.   There are war campaigns, and skirmish matches you can play with their mini’s now.  I can’t wait to give those a try!
