Two hours with a master sculptor!  And I end up with a mud golem…

Last year, Origins began offering new events in the form of an Art College.  This second year offers over 100 different events in this same school.

I saw that Sandra Garrity was  going to be teaching a 101 sculpting class, and promptly signed up!  I love her work, and thought it would be a fantastic opportunity to see how it’s done.

I settle in, ready to create my masterpiece.

Love it – The Power Palette by Reaper

Power Palette

Pop any picture into this tool, and it helps you find a match to the paint, using the Reaper Master Series of Paint.

I keep a paint log of all the projects that I do, so that I can remember what I liked, or how I achieved a certain effect.  When I see the other works or color schemes I like, I just pop the picture in here, and it gives me a break down of colors that would match.

Okay, so I’ve really been slacking lately.   So what exactly has been going on?

First up is The Army Painter’s Quick Shade in Strong Tone .  I’ve heard some really great things about this stuff, and want to give it a try.  I’ll post more when I have actually used it!

I also got an Iwata HP-C Plus airbrush, along with a really quiet air compressor (as opposed to the noisy pancake air compressor out in the garage that I’m convinced can raise zombies… more on that in a minute). This airbrush  intimidates the hell out of me, but it’s beautiful, and I want to learn to use it!

While I am not sure I’ll have a new project  to show you on this weekend (I’m having fun for my birthday – YaY me), I do have some new mini projects in the works.  I also want to introduce you to  a new category called “Miniature Assembly” which I will be expanding hopefully in the near future.
